| The Feather river is a beautiful stretch of river from oroville,ca to where it meets the Sacramento river. This river ranges from deep pools to shallow riffles. The most popular sport on the Feather is "Feather River Salmon Fishing". The Feather river opens to king salmon fishing in January, and the prime season for Feather river salmon fishing is from March till September 30th when it closes. The early spring run Feather river king salmon are some of the brightest hard fighting fish you will get your hands on, and most king salmon will be only days from the ocean. These fish make excellent table fare. In July and August the fall run begins to trickle into the river, most feather river salmon will still be chrome bright this time of year and action can be very good. In sept the majority of the fall run has entered the river. Many fish will be darker but the action will make up for it and there are still fresh Feather river king salmon moving into the river daily, so there will be plenty of opportunity's for chrome bright fish. We will catch chrome bright Feather river king salmon all the way through the close of fishing at the end of sept. Another fishery is Feather river steelhead fishing these hard fighting fish will be in the river year round with the peak season starting in October and going through February. These fish will range from 2-12 lbs and many fish will be wild and needing to be released, a steelhead report card will be needed for these trips. On High water years Feather river striper fishing and Feather river shad fishing can be very hot. The stripers can range from 3lbs all the way up to 40+ lbs. Shad will range from 1-4lbs and are very hard fighters. On low water years most of these fish will run up the Sacramento river. I truly consider the Feather river to be one of our premier fishing destinations in California, give it a try you won't be disappointed. Capt Brandon Beachum |
