Striper fishing continues to be excellent in the Sacramento River and West delta. Fishing charters and enthusiasts around the Delta region have enjoyed the action during the prime striper fishing season, and this year has brought some exciting developments. With its unique ecosystems, the Delta offers a rich environment for striped bass, making it a thrilling experience for anglers. In this post, we will share insights and observations based on recent our fishing reports, focusing on the trends affecting striper fishing in the Delta and the Sacramento River system.

Delta Guided Striper Fishing Trips
Fishing in the Sacramento River Delta remains very consistent. Timing of the tides and knowing where late season stripers hang out and feed before moving to San Francisco Bay is key. The Delta is a vast network of waterways, marshes, and flooded islands, contributing to a diverse habitat for striped bass. These fish thrive in both salt and freshwater, making the Delta particularly appealing. They typically migrate with seasonal changes, and understanding their patterns is crucial for a successful fishing expedition.
The water in the Delta goes through significant changes, especially influenced by rainfall and temperature. For instance, spring brings warming waters, which often signals striped bass to move closer to shallow areas. As a result of these changes, anglers can experience higher catch rates as fish become more accessible.

Recent Fishing Reports
As we dive deeper into the season, fishing reports reveal a consistent uptick in striper catches. Anglers have noted increased activity in several locations throughout the Delta, with key hotspots this year including the San Joaquin River, Mokelumne River, and local tidal marshes.
Catch sizes have been impressive, ranging from 5 to 20 pounds, thanks to better-than-average fishing conditions this year. For example, some of our anglers have caught striper weighing over 30 pounds this year. Trolling yozuri crystal minnows along with pro-cure bait scents have been leading to higher hook-up rates.
