Feather River Salmon Fishing Report

Salmon fishing on the Feather river remains excellent with lots of chrome bright king salmon entering the system. Feather River Salmon fishing guides are putting their clients on quality salmon every day.

Current Feather River Fishing Conditions

The Feather River is still experiencing optimal conditions for salmon fishing this season. Water levels are stable, and temperatures are within the ideal range for salmon activity.

Feather River Salmon Run

  • Chinook Salmon: The Chinook salmon run is in full swing, with many anglers reporting successful catches.

  • Steelhead: Steelhead are also present, though in smaller numbers compared to Chinook.

Best Salmon Fishing Locations

  • Lower Feather River: The Hwy 99 Bridge to above Shanghai Bend has been producing good numbers of salmon with spinners in the early morning being best.

  • Upper Feather River: Areas from live oak to around the Thermalito outlet are producing good numbers of salmon on both flat fish lures and drifting roe.

Recommended Techniques For Feather River Salmon

  • Drift Fishing: Very Effective for catching salmon, especially using roe.

  • Backtrolling Plugs: A popular method in deeper waters, often yielding larger fish.

Feather River Salmon Fishing Regulations and Guidelines

Ensure compliance with local fishing regulations, including size limits and seasonal restrictions. Always check for updates on licensing requirements and any specific rules for the Feather River.
